Higashi Ryu Kenbudo and Shitoryu Karate

Higashi Ryu is a school of Martial Arts for Japanese Sword and Karate formulated  by Mr Fred East 7th Dan.
Somerset Budokai is his association and current club members include Worle and Yatton dojo.

Also included in our syllabus is Kobudo (small weapons such as Bo (long staff) Jo (short staff), Nunchaku, Sai), Tuite, Kyusho.

Our Karate is primarily Shitoryu with a background of Shukokai and Sankukai, since 1973 having the benefit of training with and being heavily influenced by sensei Dunlop Paul, Roger Mills, Shigeru Kimura, Yoshinau Nambu, Ryozo Tsukada, Kenji Kusano and Toshishiro Obata

Our Sword is practical and derived from many years in Shinkendo and also stretching far back to 1973 with Shigeru Kimura and Dunlop Paul sensei.
